add drop trim to the list. i maxed this out 2 years ago and all my data, login information and client sites are no longer acceessible. I had a lot of clients data that i am no longer able to recover and my clients are upset. it did last for 2 years but unfortunately the price i paid would have been the same as sticking with a platform like hotjar and paying it’s subscription. it’s kind of convenient that they literally became nonresponsive when all their LTDs got their monies worth but this absolutely sucks that all that data retention is permanently gone.

Using a newly launched tool, particularly one bought via a marketplace on an LTD, poses a significantly higher risk for client projects, and we end up risking losing our clients. I’m exploring Plausible and Fathom, Analytics both which are GDPR and CCPA compliant.

Both are now down, Sellix being my plan B. Plan C … I don’t want to jinx it, but likely won’t be a lifetime deal. 🤣

ironic..i just attempted to login to Wope to see this thread. Yup its dead can’t login. Also, I see WP Lockdown on the list. WP RESET is by the same developer..while still supported..they promoted TruConversion. anyway Wope is a bummer. was just shy of $400 and only around a year. danggit and now the email from Sumo they looking to reduce refund window to 30day.

I had an account with them though i don’t have a store. I had procured this from Appsumo. They were giving so many options and i believed it to be a very stable platform and was happy about it. I had also noticed that they integrated so many payment methods for Crypto Currency.

I flagged Noysi as risky around two years ago due to news of the founder's sale and the impending three-year lock-up period. I previously contacted Hector, expressing worries about the stalled development after he laid off his staff to cut operational costs, leaving only himself to maintain the servers. I received unconvincing answers, thus I never used Noysi. Another of my old tools is gone.

I had sensed some major concerns long back, and had quickly refunded. I had red-flagged multiple times for people who were still within their refund window so that they can decide better. whoa crazy! NOYSI was one of my first LTD purchases. I actually bought 3 licenses, one for each project. it sounded too good to be true for the price so I refunded it. I lost $99 on one CNAME before I changed my mind, but I’m glad I backed out! Honestly, I always felt he could’ve charged double or triple for that app considering what Sumolings pay for stuff. I was not expecting that.. holy cow! if anything I thought Sumolings would just lose access at the Spanish law 3 year mark due to the acquisition not grandfathering the LTD. I’m sorry to anyone who held onto it and now their data is locked! i think that was when i first ran into you Haroon and helped me steer my decision away to keep it :heart:

Likewise it was one of my early purchases before I discovered the inside of AppSumo, buying two licenses. I was too late to refund since after a year, I sensed the founder opened up saying he had sold his company. In our 1-1 email exchange, his silence was deafening when I questioned his decision to halt development, fire his staff to cut operational and development costs, and just paying for hosting to “show” the buyer that the site is live. I had bought one CNAME add-on earlier, but after that email exchange, I refrained from buying another one. I chose not to use Noysi because I was concerned about the lack of future development and the uncertainty of whether the new buyer would support LTD users.

I’m was a bit worried for Wope knowing that their CTO left the company last summer 2024 and this was not a trivial situation. They were slow and discreet to react but they published a blog article end of February to explain the situation and everything should be back to normal in 2 weeks. For Wope, that would have been my biggest loss if they shutdown (approx. 630$ invested, 2xTier4). My bet was that behind it was a very legit and popular international SEO agency with big clients - so real MRR. Let see how they improve the new ranking system, but since they’re really advanced on the techy size, I would not be surprised if they implemented a next-gen ranking tracker based on real scroll-results (vs. traditional num100)…

It's difficult to identify the precise causes, as founders might not openly discuss their failures, or other issues might be involved. While [my book](https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Side-Lifetime-Deals-Survival-ebook/dp/B0DMT6GCRT/) offers an in-depth analysis of various contributing factors, these 10 below highlight the main causes, including some previously unknown consequences of AI. 1. Marketplaces manipulated and ripped them off, taking most of the money and leaving them with almost nothing for lifetime development, operations and support. This is a major issue. 2. Many of those founders were serial entrepreneurs, using marketplaces to quickly find buyers and then moving on to their next project. 3. Some were just white-label marketers using others' tools. 4. Some founders were completely dependent on AI, and the disruptions left them directionless and outmatched by companies with updated technology. 5. A surprising number of founders are completely unfamiliar with marketing, leaving them with no option but to rely heavily on marketplaces that ultimately profited from their inexperience. 6. AppSumo’s aggressive profit-first marketing strategies affected SEO and SERP ranking of the tool founder’s own tools and their websites, heavily impacting their MRR/ARR revenue strategies 7. The tool creators suffered from AppSumo's aggressive, profit-focused marketing tactics, which negatively impacted their SEO, search engine rankings, and ultimately, their MRR/ARR. 8. AI is a highly disruptive technology. Tool shutdowns will be far more frequent than in any previous year before 2023. 9. A lot of founders had ulterior motives. They aimed solely to profit from LTD, then disappear or rebrand, leaving LTD's buyers high and dry. Many serial entrepreneurs understand how platforms like AppSumo operate, often participating in their revenue-generating strategies. 10. A lot of tool companies started with just one or two people and minimal outside investment. Their dwindling MRR/ARR, combined with soaring cloud infrastructure costs due to increased usage, shifting pricing plans, and evolving AI API cost models, has depleted their funds.
